"backyard oasis"
urban housing (academic)
2022
the oasis was inspired by the site’s historical railway community and the current abandoned site where bits of nature pushed through concrete. this contrasting characteristic was used to create a sparkle in this urban housing community.
from growing various secret gardens and meadows through steel structures, to having a movie/ entertainment square to meditation spaces, backyard oasis is able to bring a harmonious atmosphere through a juxtaposition of serene and animated elements.
the oasis is a place of both zen and play.
the space is filled with an abundance of different niches like garden centres, food processing centres, entertainment square, pet daycare/spas, skateparks and waterparks. everything is within walking distances to all residences to provide a chance for one to experience nature throughout their days and whereabouts.
